In today's world, budget cuts are proliferating. How can we save you money? Creating a healthy environment is of paramount importance not only for your guest but for your employee as well. Statistics overwhelmingly demonstrate that employee wellness programs not only lower health costs in the long run, but also improve worker productivity, retention, morale, and absenteeism.

The spa industry has enjoyed explosive growth over the past decade. From day spas to destination resorts, meticulous attention has been given to facilities, equipment, and overall environment. Whether a spa is emerging into a new market or competing in a well established one, outstanding customer service is the hallmark of success. Southwest Wellness Educators understands the unique staff issues related to the spa environment.

We interviewed spa directors to find the most common problem areas they encountered and identified the most common issues to be: body mechanics, staff morale, and nutritional and financial wellness. Each seminar of our spa staff development series is handcrafted to meet the specific needs of the individual spa. We focus on development of a cohesive team accenting self-responsibility. Our goal is to help create a staff of respected individuals united to deliver dynamic guest services.

  • improve quality and consistency in customer service
  • improve skills for career longevity
  • decrease workers compensation
  • increase staff retention
  • create a sense of community and respect for each other

Body Fluency

The Body Fluency Seminar supports your spa employee with redesigning movement and provides readily usable skills for the prevention and management of cumulative trauma disorders. Full schedules, personal distractions and inadequate training lead to unconscious or dysfunctional job performance. Appropriate use of body mechanics prevents many of the repetitive stress injuries occurring more frequently in the workplace. Healthy movement decreases the potential for staff turnover and worker compensation claims.

We teach body mechanics for comfortable, fluid movement around the treatment area. A more comfortable practitioner makes for a more mindful practitioner, directly affecting the quality of touch your guest receives and ensuring a more satisfying spa experience.

Conscious Living

The Conscious Living Seminar promotes mindfulness. Our goal is to stimulate your staff to explore the cause and effect of personal choices through two important components of daily living--nutrition and finances. Greater attention to the nutritional and financial aspects of living leads to a more balanced and prosperous life--physically, emotionally and spiritually. Balanced nutrition creates an even flow of energy and solid financial management decrease many persistent daily stressors. Individuals who feel empowered to manage these daily needs manifest greater vitality and are able to be more present for occupational demands.

Building a Vital Community
(conflict, stress and change)

Our Building A Vital Community Seminar focuses on communication and attitude in order to build a staff that radiates the essential elements necessary in a service oriented community. The heart of this dynamic presentation aims to enhance morale and to decrease burnout.

The spa environment contains a diverse community of management, employees and guests. Within this community, customer service is of critical importance. A staff that feels valued and respected projects a positive and willing attitude. Ultimately, a cohesive and well-functioning spa community generates greater guest satisfaction.

Our seminars are scheduled according to your needs. We have found the most convenient way to present this material is in four-hour blocks of time. Additional hours are available from a few hours to a full day.
